Samsung Galaxy M30s Review
  • To start with, Samsung is known for delivering some amazing displays and the Galaxy M30s tells the tale quite brightly. The phone is loaded with a 6.4-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity-U display with a screen resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels. The display offers own good colour reproduction and viewing angles are good as well. By default, the colours are muted, but you can switch to Vivid mode in the Display Setting to make it look punchier and colourful. The large screen makes the streaming experience a delightful one. We watched a couple of series on Galaxy M30s and we were satisfied with the display performance. The phone comes with Widevine L1 support, meaning that you can stream HD content on Netflix and Amazon Prime Videos.
  • Another area where the Galaxy M30s shines is the battery. The smartphone is equipped with a massive 6,000mAh battery and it comes with 15W fast charging support. The phone is currently the only one in this price segment that offers this much capacity. During our testing period, the phone easily lasted two days with an average screen time of 8 to 9 hours. When we stressed the battery performance by playing some games, streaming videos, using social media apps and for navigation, we still got almost one and a half-day of battery backup. The 15W fast charger was helpful for charging the phone within 1 hour and 30 minutes.
  • Samsung Galaxy M30s is powered by the latest Exynos 9611 processor along with Mali G72 MP3 GPU. The latest chipset from Samsung almost gives comparable performance to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor. During our usage, we didn't not noticed any lag and multitasking was smooth as well. The phone handles most of the casual titles without any problem and high-end games like PUBG Mobile runs good, though you still notice slight frame drop.
  • Samsung has upgraded the cameras of the Samsung Galaxy M30s. The phone now comes with a triple rear cameras with 48-megapixel primary lens with f/2.0 aperture, an 8-megapixel wide-angle lens with 123-degree FOV and a 5-megapixel depth sensor. For the front, it is equipped with a 16-megapixel selfie shooter. The daylight performance of the phone is good as colours came out to be close to the source and macro shots were good as well. The wide-angle captures a larger area.

Design and Display
  • Samsung took a little longer to adopt to the new design language of a notch display, and it all started with the Galaxy M series this year. The Galaxy M30 was one of the better design phone that Samsung introduced over its Galaxy J or Galaxy On series. The Galaxy M30s is not much different from the predecessor Galaxy M30 as well. It features almost similar design but with a new style triple-camera module and new color options. The back is still made of glossy plastic, and it attracts fingerprints/ smudges easily. Having said that, Samsung has done a good job in keeping the weight down (188 grams) despite a massive 6,000mAh battery.
  • Coming to the display, there is no change in the M30s’ 6.4-inch Super AMOLED panel. It still looks nice and offers full-HD+ (1080 x 2340 pixels) resolution with Infinity U notch. I had no problem with its touch performance, brightness levels, sunlight legibility and viewing angles. Samsung’s displays are usually oversaturated, so that part remains same on this phone too. Overall, the display quality is great for its price. I would rate M30s’ display higher than its competing devices – Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro, Realme 5 Pro and Mi A3.

Massive 6,000mAh battery we all wanted
  • The biggest highlight of Galaxy M30s is its massive 6,000mAh battery, something that we all need for our smartphones today. During my time with the device, it could easily last me about 1.5 days. In terms of the battery time for not so heavy users like me, the same battery should do fine for about two days for initial few months at least. The predecessor M30 also had a big battery, and it was 5,000mAh. So, just in comparison, the 6,000mAh battery is slightly better. The older mode M30 could also manage one full day on a single charge. That said, it is so much pain to charge this battery in one go, because it takes more than 3 hours to reach 100 with its supplied 15W charger.

Samsung Galaxy M30s: Camera Review
  • Coming to the triple-camera setup of the Samsung Galaxy M30s, it has been upgraded as well. Samsung has used its 48-megapixel primary ISOCELL GM2 sensor in the M30s, which is a huge jump over the 13-megapixel sensor seen on the M30. The other two lens in the setup are the 5-megapixel depth camera, and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens with a 123-degree field of view. On the front, the smartphone gets a 16-megapixel selfie camera in the notch.

Performance And Gaming
  • The Galaxy M30s comes with an updated chipset. In the place of the Galaxy M30's 14-nanometre Exynos 7904 is a 10-nanometre Exynos 9611. Like its predecessor, the new chipset employs eight cores (four Cortex-A73, four Cortex-A53) but at higher clock speeds. The GPU too is a slightly newer Mali-G72 MP3. Our review unit came with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The original Galaxy M30 we reviewed, however, came with only 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
  • The review unit fared quite well on our standard CPU and GPU benchmark tests. On AnTuTu 7.0, the Galaxy M30s picked up 132160 points, as opposed to the Galaxy M30's 107705. On PCMark 2.0, the gap was not much. The Galaxy M30s scored 5626 points, and the Galaxy M30, 4969. On 3DMark's Sling Shot, the gap pretty much doubled. The Galaxy M30s bagged 1548 points, and the Galaxy M30 got 730 points. There was a significant bump in storage speeds as well.

Google Pixel 4 XL
  • Google Pixel 4 XL smartphone was launched on 15th October 2019. The phone comes with a 6.30-inch touch screen display with a resolution of 1440x3040 pixels at a pixel density of 537 pixels per inch (ppi) and an aspect ratio of 19:9.
  • Google Pixel 4 XL is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor. It comes with 6GB of RAM.
  • The Google Pixel 4 XL runs Android 10 and is powered by a 3700mAh non-removable battery. The Google Pixel 4 XL supports proprietary fast charging.
  • As far as the cameras are concerned, the Google Pixel 4 XL on the rear packs a 16-megapixel primary camera with an f/2.4 aperture and a pixel size of 1.0-micron and a second 12.2-megapixel camera with an f/1.7 aperture and a pixel size of 1.4-micron. The rear camera setup has phase detection autofocus. It sports a 8-megapixel camera on the front for selfies, with an f/2.0 aperture and a pixel size of 1.22-micron.
  • Google Pixel 4 XL based on Android 10 and packs 64GB of inbuilt storage. The Google Pixel 4 XL is a dual-SIM (GSM and GSM) smartphone that accepts Nano-SIM and eSIM cards.
  • Connectivity options on the Google Pixel 4 XL include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, GPS, NFC, USB Type-C, 3G, and 4G with active 4G on both SIM cards. Sensors on the phone include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, barometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor, and compass/ magnetometer.
  • The Google Pixel 4 XL measures 160.40 x 75.10 x 8.20mm (height x width x thickness) and weighs 193.00 grams. It was launched in Clearly White, Just Black, and Oh So Orange colours. It bears a glass body.
Google Pixel 4 release date and price
  • The Google Pixel 4 release date is October 24, with Pixel 4 pre-orders open from October 15. The Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL is available via every major US carrier, including AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, X-Finity, Spectrum Mobile and Google Fi.
  • It'll be coming to a number of countries worldwide on October 24, including the US, UK and Australia.
  • The Google Pixel 4 price starts at $799 / £669 / AU$1,049 for the 64GB of storage model, while the 128GB Pixel 4 price is $899 / £769 / AU$1,199.
  • That means the Pixel 4 has the same launch price as the Pixel 3 had in the US, while in the UK the new handsets actually have a lower launch price than their predecessors.
Google Pixel 4 design and display
  • While there's not a whole lot that's new about the Google Pixel 4, the design has been updated. The handset has a metal frame which runs round the circumference of the device providing a solid structure, finished with a rubberized black coating.
  • Initially this feels a little odd to the touch. We're used to the cool, premium feel of metal or glass when we pick up a flagship smartphone these days, and the duller finish on the sides of the Pixel 4 doesn't ooze the same high-end appeal.
  • However, after a couple of minutes of handling the Pixel 4, the finish starts to make more sense. It provides an awful lot of grip compared to all-glass/metal rivals, and allows the phone to sit comfortably in the hand.
  • With its 5.7-inch display, the Pixel 4 is one of the smaller flagship devices around, and is thus usable one-handed, with the extra grip on the sides helping it to feel secure. The Pixel 4 measures 147.1 x 68.8 x 8.2mm and weighs 162g.
  • It's not a 'compact' device however, and those with smaller palms may still need to employ both hands to comfortably use the Pixel 4.
  • The display takes up most of the front of the phone, but there's still a bezel above and below, with Google once again opting not to use a notch on its standard flagship model (the Pixel 3 XL did sport a notch, but for the Pixel 4 XL Google has reverted to a bezeled design).
  • On the right side of the phone you'll find the power and volume buttons, with the former flaunting a contrasting color to the black trim of the Pixel 4 for a little visual interest.
  • There's also a change on the rear, with a large, square camera block sitting in the top-left corner – it's a similar aesthetic to that of the new iPhone 11 series.
  • It's not an especially stylish implementation, but it has allowed Google to group two cameras (the first time it's included a second snapper on the rear of a phone), the flash and a few sensors into one area.
  • You get stereo speakers on the Pixel 4, while the handset comes with an IP dust and water resistance rating, allowing it to survive a short submersion in water.
  • The Google Pixel 4 comes in three colors: Just Black, Clearly White and the new Oh So Orange.
  • Taking a closer look at the Google Pixel 4 display, the handset has a Full HD+ resolution with a pixel density of 444ppi – that's good, and it looks great, but the Pixel 4 XL has a higher-resolution panel.
  • It also has a refresh rate of 90Hz which should mean smoother scrolling and slicker gameplay.
Where's the Pixel 4 fingerprint scanner?
  • A notable omission from the rear of the Google Pixel 4 is a fingerprint scanner – in fact, this particular feature is missing from the phone completely. Google has decided to go all-in on face unlock, which it claims is quick and easy to use.
  • However, while Apple has had success with Face ID on the iPhone X and newer iPhone 11, the Android ecosystem (and especially the apps available on the platform) isn't quite at the same stage.
  • If you currently use your fingerprint to sign into Android apps, you'll find your biometric login options limited on the Pixel 4.
  • Google says it will work with app developers to bring in face unlock for logins, but this could take a while to appear on the apps which matter to you.

Realme X2 Pro
  • The Realme X2 Pro is a rumored handset that is likely to come out of the Realme stables in the next few months. As evident from the name, this device seems to be an upgrade to the Realme X2 that was recently announced by the company in China. The Realme X2 Pro will see an upgrade in terms of the processor. At this point, it is not clear if the only change in the Pro version would be the addition of a faster SoC. Current reports suggest that the Realme X2 Pro will use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC as opposed to the Snapdragon 730G chipset used on the Realme X2. The other Realme mobile phones you may be interested in are the Realme XT and the Realme X

Large Display, Snapdragon 855 Plus Chipset

  • The Realme X2 Pro is likely to get the same display as its lower-spec d sibling. This means that the panel will measure 6.4-inches across and will be of the Super AMOLED type. This display will have a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels in the 19.5:9 aspect ratio and has a PPI density of 403. The handset also gets Gorilla Glass 5 protection for added durability. Unlike the mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G chipset used on the Realme X2, the Realme X2 Pro is serious about its ambitions as an affordable flagship and will use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC. This is an overclocked version of the standard Snapdragon 855 and is famous for being used on handsets like the ASUS ROG Phone 2 and the OnePlus 7T.

Multiple RAM and storage options

  • Like its sibling the Realme X2 Pro will be offered in multiple RAM and storage versions. The standard Realme X2 comes in three versions; a base 64GB version with 6GB RAM, a 128GB version with 8GB RAM, and a top end 256GB variant that gets 8GB of RAM. There is a good chance that Realme will retain these same variants for the Realme X2 Pro. There is, however, also a good chance that the company could go all out and also present a 12GB RAM variant.

Large Battery, Quad Rear Cameras
  • The Realme X2 Pro is likely to feature a large 4,000 mAh battery just like its lower priced sibling. There has been demand from fans, however, to provide at least a 4,500 mAh battery with the device. Another demand is that it should come with a 65W fast charger. It remains to be seen if the Realme X2 Pro would really come with these additions. The camera setup on the Realme X2 Pro is likely to be identical to the one on the Realme X2. This means that it will get a quad camera setup consisting of a 64-megapixel primary camera mated to an f/1.8 wide lens with support for PDAF. The secondary camera uses an 8-megapixel sensor mated to a 13mm ultrawide angle lens with f/2.3 aperture. The third camera is a dedicated 2-megapixel sensor for macro shots. This camera uses an f/2.4 lens. The fourth sensor is a dedicated 2-megapixel depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture. At the front, the handset gets a 32-megapixel selfie camera.

Display
  • You get a 6.5-inch Fluid AMOLED display, similar to the one found on the OnePlus 7T. The screen resolution is set at 2,400 x 1,080 pixels. Realme has also opted for a 90Hz display on the phone, same as the OnePlus 7T. The display also supports HDR10+ and features an eye protection mode.
  • You also get an in-display optical fingerprint sensor and a U-shaped notch on the panel. The device achieves a screen-to-body ratio of 91.7%.

Realme X2 Pro price and availability

  • The Realme X2 Pro has launched in China at CNY 2,699 (~$381) for the 6GB + 64GB variant, CNY 2,899 (~$409) for the 8GB + 128GB option, and CNY 3,299 (~$466) for the 12GB + 256GB version.
  • In Europe, the device is priced at €399 for the 6GB + 64GB configuration, €449 for the 8GB + 128GB model, and €499 for the 12GB + 256GB version. It will be available in select European regions starting early November.
  • It will also be available in India by December, as confirmed the Realme’s India head, Madhav Sheth.
  • Realme also announced the price for the Realme X2 in Europe today. The smartphone bears the same specs as the Realme XT, except it swaps the Snapdragon 712 chipset on the XT for the Snapdragon 730G. It also features a 32MP front camera, as well as 30W fast charging. The Realme X2 is priced at €299 for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant. It will be available in Pearl White, Pearl Blue colorways. It will be available in Europe starting October 29.
  • Color options on the Realme X2 Pro include Lunar White and Neptune Blue colorways.
  • At these prices, the Realme X2 Pro sits pretty between the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro and the OnePlus 7T. How well does it perform? Read our review to find out.
